A Boy Called It

This is a very moving story. It is about a boy named Dave, who is abused and almost killed by his alcoholic mother. His father is scared of his wife so doesn’t stand up for Dave and leaves without him. It is very dangerous for Dave to be around his mother, she does terrible things to him, things that a person should never have to go through. It is the first of three books written by Dave Pelzer and they are all true stories. This book will engage you, excite you and sadden you. It shows you to respect your parents and realise just how lucky you are. It’s a fantastic book and I highly recommend reading it!

Hana's suitcase

Hana's suitcase by Karen Levine.

The book first took place in the Tokyo museum they had received Hana's suitcase. A lady named Fumiko wanted to find out more about Hana and her suitcase. She travelled all over the world to find out information. Hana's suitcase is about a girl who was effected by the Holocaust. Hana lived with her family in Germany as normal, happy Jewish people, but one day the Nazis came and life changed. Hana's parents were taken away to concentration camp where they were eventually killed. Hana and her brother George then lived with some other relatives until they got taken away too. As the book goes on you will feel the pain and courage thaty the Jewish people wemnt through.

the book is a touching book and is about hana being jewish and not being allowed to to other things. it is really interesting about fumiko travelling to many places just to find out what had happened to hana. the book is also interesting because on every first chapter it would be about hana and on every second chapter it would be about fumiko and how she was coping to find out what happened to hana. it is a really good book.

The book 'Hana's suitcase.' is about Hana and her family. Hana's family are Jewish and the story is about what happened to them once the country was taken over by the nazi's in 1939. The story is broken up into two parts. One part is Hana's life in 1903. They retell what happeneds when her family is seperated and when her and her brother are sent to concerntration camps. The second part of the story is about Fumiko who comes across Hana's suitcase in the future and tries to find out what happened to Hana and her family. It is a true story and it is one of my favourites. It is a story full of courage, challenges, hope and persistance.

Sprite Downberry;

Sprite Downberry is a book full of epic events. Her problems seem to begin at home but as her mother goes under great depression she has to face even bigger problems. As Sprites father begins to realise that Sunny (sprites mum) was taking drugs, he had put up with it enough, for a few days he stayed with a friend. But Sprite was afraid that he may not be coming back. As sunny was in a bad state, Sprite decided to head off with her little brother to bring her father back.

The start of the book was boring but towards the end it was a little exciting, I only really started to become interested towards the end.
I would give it a 4 out of 10.

Sprite Downberry by Nette Hilton.

Sprite Downberry, a young girl around eleven years old, shows a lot more potential than most other girls her age. She is very wise, mature and able to take care of herself. Her mother on the other hand, Sunny, is a little the opposite. Her mood swings change from happy to sad all the time and it makes things really tough for the rest of the family, especially Sprites father. Not only is she having trouble with her parents at home, she is also being bullied and teased at school. Sprites father eventually leaves Sunny and says he is going to stay with a friend. Sprite, being very smart and witty relates this to a movie she once on T.V. Sunny begins to get so depressed about her husband leaving and so Sprite then realises that she has to leave home and go searching for her dad, with her younger brother Mozz by her side. I personally think that the book was quite good, and well written, although I think that Nette Hilton could have done a better job of making the whole story interesting, not just the ending.Ashlee Firth 8P

Sprite Downberry is an okay book. i would give it a 5/10. it is only interesting towards the end because of what happens. Sprite Downberry is about a 12 year old girl who's very mature for her age. She has a brother called Mozz. She also has a mum who is called Sunny. Sunny's husband leaves the family and Sunny is very depresed. She also a smoker. This is when the problems start. Sprite Downberry was kind of a boring book and i think it could have been writen better to make it more interesting.

Holes

‘Holes’ is a cleverly interlinked book about a boy who has a choice between jail and Camp Green Lake. He chooses Camp Green Lake where he has to dig one hole a day. His time at Camp Green Lake helps his discover his past and uncover the secrets of his past. I enjoyed this book a lot because the story all links together to create a very fascinating a gripping novel.

Holes is very cleverly written by Louis Sachar. It is about an overweight boy, Stanley, who is mistaken by the police for stealing a pair of famous sneakers. He has to choose between Camp Green Lake and jail. He chooses Camp Greeen Lake because he has never been to Camp before, so he thinks it would be fun but he was wrong. All the boys there are all digging a hold each day "to bulid character" but is that really why they're digging? I enjoyed holes alot because the stories connect and reveal his family history.
